University of Texas - San Antonio Roadrunners (3) VS. Texas A&M University Aggies (7)

A much-anticipated series against UTSA started with full stands at A&M’s home ice. Both teams were looking to keep up their respective winning streaks, and both played with the intensity required.

A&M started the scoring about four and a half minutes into the first period; Anthony Rapesak sent a pass to Nathan Banks from the corner, who took a one-time shot from the center. The puck slid through the goalie’s five-hole, and the game only gained momentum from there.

UTSA responded with a goal just four minutes later at 11:33 during a power play, and the score was tied, 1-1.

With 3:36 on the clock in the first period, Michael Molge sent the puck to Nick Xenakis—he passed it from the corner to Justin Cooley, who buried it. The first period ended 2-1, Aggies.

The Aggies kept up their intensity; Cooley took another pass from Xenakis and shot it in the low corner of the net in a one-on-one with the goalie just 39 seconds into the second period. The Aggies took a two goal lead, 3-1.

Fifteen minutes went by before UTSA scored at 5:22 and brought the score to 3-2.

Nathan Banks and Brian Dinkelkamp teamed up to give the puck to Anthony Rapesak during a power play opportunity. As he skated past the front of the net, he shot it top left corner and once again gave the Aggies a two-goal lead, 4-2, with 3:12 remaining in the second period.

Not two minutes later, Nick Uccello won a faceoff and gave the puck to Matt Moreno, who skated in front of the net and shot it in. With 1:54 remaining in the second period, the Aggies were ahead 5-2.

UTSA stepped up with 28 seconds to go and scored on a power play; the second period ended 5-3.

Almost half the third period had gone by when Nick Xenakis picked up the loose puck at the blue line and skated it in. He went one-on-one with the goalie and slipped it through the five-hole at 9:28. The Aggies once again had a three-goal lead, 6-3.

The Aggies weren’t satisfied—after a pass from Justin Cooley, Xenakis skated across the front of the net and passed it back to Michael Molge, who buried it with 3:04 on the clock for the third period. The game ended with the Aggies triumphant, 7-3.
